Acumatica Advanced Manufacturing Edition
Overview
​
The Acumatica Advanced Manufacturing Edition has a Product Configurator, which enables you to specify product attributes such as color, size, gender, etc. This edition has also a Product Price Estimator that enables you to create BOM, and calculates then an estimated cost for the product based on the cost of used materials and assemblies, labor costs and allocated machine, tool and overhead costs. In Sept 2018, the Advanced Planning and Scheduling has been completed. This features enables the Master Production Scheduling to schedule a production run based on the availability and capacity of labor, machines and tools. This is also called finite scheduling, and optimizes the usage of your labor, machine and tools.
The product configurator creates automatically a BOM for the finished/end product, which can be included in a Sales Order. A Sales Order can create a Production Order (RO). This features fits the configure to order scenarios.
The product price estimator can be created from an existing BOM, or enables you to create a new BOM. From this BOM you can create a new sales quote, sales order or opportunity. From such a sales order, a production order can be created. You could create a production order directly from this BOM.
Again all these features enable you to quickly create BOMs, estimates, sales orders and opportunities. This is especially needed when you have more small size sales orders to fulfill via production which is now more often the case with the current small E-Commerce orders and the one-day shipment requirements.

The product configurator creates a production order for a finished good with the right specifics. Such a product configurator is very useful in a Make-to-Order and Configure-to-Order manufacturing business such as a clothing manufacturer, a shoe manufacturer, a computer manufacturer, electronics manufacturer, etc.

Estimator that enables you to build a BOM, to specify costs for the parts and quantity of a finished good to provide an estimate to manufacture a certain quantity of finished good.

This estimator can be very useful in an Engineer-to-Order manufacturing business such as equipment manufacturers (large machine manufacturers, warehouse storage and conveyors manufacturers,..)

Product Configurator
​
The Product Configurator enables you to do the following for a given finished good or assembly or item, to:

Specify options such as eg. size, color, thickness, number of panels in a window, etc

Minimum and maximum requirements: eg. a door always needs a door handle

Exclude combinations of certain options eg. a certain computer motherboard can not have a RAID drive array
-
Specify complex conditions and calculations to form configuration rules

A BOM needs to have been built before a product configuration is built.
​
The product configurator can be called upon from an opportunity within Acumatica CRM, and also from a Sales Order.
From a completed product configuration, a production order can be generated.
​
The advantage of such a product configurator is that you don't have to build a BOM for each possible product configuration (combination of options).

Estimator
​
The Estimator enables you to do the following for a given finished good or assembly or item, to:

Build a BOM, which will be used in the Material Requirements Planning module/workspace

Create a cost estimate for manufacturing an item

The Estimator can be called upon from an opportunity within Acumatica CRM, and also from a Sales Order.
From a completed product configuration, a production order can be generated.

The advantage of such an estimator is that you can build a BOM and a cost estimate that you can quote to your customer.
Project Manufacturing ( New 2019R1 version feature)
In the new version 2019R1 of Acumatica, the project accounting module/workspace enables you to specify project quotes consisting of a project estimate to do a certain set of tasks and use a certain list of items/parts. Once this quote is approved, the project quote can be converted to a project. In addition this project can become a work/production order in a manufacturing environment where the Acumatica Manufacturing Edition is installed.

Advanced Planning and Scheduling ( New 2019R1 version feature)
In the new version 2019R1 of Acumatica, the advanced planning and scheduling feature takes into account the available capacity of the work center and of the machines in each work center so that the manufacturing of each item starts on time in order to get the finished good completed on time for shipment.

Engineering Change Orders ( New 2019R1 version feature)
In the new version 2019R1 of Acumatica, the engineering change order feature enables engineers to submit an Change Order Request, get it approved to make a Change Order, get the Change Order approved to change the BOM, and update the BOM during production, and have that change be automatically propagated to the MRP and the advanced planning and scheduling.
