The Electronic Manufacturer's Equipment Manufacturer ERP Package can be used in the market segments that manufacture the following equipment:

  • Electronic Manufacturer's Equipment. Examples:

The Electronic Manufacturer's Equipment Manufacturer ERP Package can be used to manage the production in the  following manufacturing processes:

  • Engineer to order

    • The CAD drawings have still to be made. The CAD drawing data could be imported into the Bill of Material (BOM). This can be accomplished by the ISV application of Cadtalk that is integrated the Acumatica Cloud ERP, as you will see in the video below. This BOM will be used in a production order. 

  • Make to order

    • The product is already engineered, and just needs to be manufactured or assembled. In the Acumatica Manufacturing Edition, a Sales Order can be converted into a production order as can be seen in a video below.​

  • Configure to order
    • The product is already engineered but, have several options. For instance a boat needs to be manufactured/assembled. It has options such as 1, 2 or 3 windows, several colors, 1 or 2 outboard motors, etc. Acumatica Manufacturing Edition comes with a product configurator which will be discussed below. 
  • Job Shop

    • A machine shop, which may have several eg. milling machines, to manufacture parts that are specific for a particular customer, is  a job shop​

  • Project Centric manufacturing​

    • A large machine or equipment needs to be made eg. a small airplane. A project is set up with tasks, people, tools and machines. A project quote can be submitted to the customer for approval. Once approved the project quote can be converted into a production order, and become a project. The Acumatica Cloud ERP has a project accounting application where a project quote can be created, and upon approval by the customer be converted into a production order. ​

The equipment manufacturer may make a one of or a few machines of the same type. The manufacturing time for one machine can be a week to months. It is crucial to have all the right material on time else, the whole production could be put on halt. Therefore procurement planning is very important. Other requirements specific to this industry are as follows:

  • Customer specific quoting & job orders – One off to repeat orders

  • Ability to purchase material specific to job(s) and inventory

  • Flexibility with changing customer due dates and job schedules

The machine shop, which may have several eg. milling machines, to manufacture parts that are specific for a particular customer, is also a job shop. However such a shop may mill a mechanical part in about an hour. A few hundred parts may be made of the same type, which could be a batch. The next batch will be for a different mechanical part. Therefore the CNC machine will have to be reset/reprogrammed to do the right milling.

Such a machine shop may not require a BOM, Material Requirements Planning and Master Production Scheduling. It may just require simple production planning, and materials management. A Lite Manufacturing ERP may be sufficient.

Keeping Your Inventory at an Optimum Level

The Acumatica Manufacturing Edition enables your company, which has a make-to-order manufacturing process, to keep your inventoy at an optimum level (not too low to avoid shortcomings, not too high to avoid excessive stock) in the following ways:

  • Make to Sales Order: a Sales Order is converted into a Production Order. This way all products produced will be sold.

  • Purchase to Production Order: only those items will be purchased as specified in the Production Order via the Material Requirements Planning (MRP). This way all items purchased will be used for the production.
